Western Digital Releases New Home Network Drive

wd_my_book_liveWestern Digital announces the release of the new My Book Live home network storage. This drive will offer 100MBps transfer rates which is more then triple the speed of USB 2.0 and double the speed of any other network attached storage on the market currently.

The awesome part about this is that is can be viewed easily by any type of computer both Mac and PC as well as Linux. It will also allow you to stream media to a television as long as you have a DNLA-multimedia certified device, such as an X-BOX 360.

This storage allows everyone in the home to be able to access the drive in order to allow for ease of data sharing. You will be able to share movies, music, photos, and documents across a multitude of hardware Including your smart phone. I have stated before that I am an avid gamer, and that I play World of Warcraft. That game allows you to actually play it without it being installed you can just copy the directory to your pc from another one and away you go. Also people who play this game will generally have a ton of mods for the game. I would use this storage to keep a current directory of the game and to keep all my mods on so that at any time I can re copy my game directory and reinstall my mods. Users can also play music and videos stored on their drive in iTunes®, as well as view their digital photos on their iPhone®, iPod touch® and iPad™ with the swipe of a finger through the included WD Photos™ application.
